11. Music From The Lockdown (Zene a karanténból) 2020-21

 

The pandemic was hitting hard, the general lockdown ruined lots of musical initiatives and there even were bands who had no choice but to give up. Falling In Reverse was also put to cancel tours with "Popular Monster", but Ronnie worked without a stop on his releasing plans. The Twitch streams he was already doing for a short while then, became the main communication channel for him, he was having sessions about his musical concept, his plans, his personal life or just for a little bit of fun.

A járvány erősen berobbant és az általános karantén sok zenei kezdeményezést tönkretett, sőt, teljes zenekarokat kényszerített arra, hogy feladják tevékenységüket. A Falling In Reverse-nek is le kellett mondania a "Popular Monster"-rel tervezett turnéit, de Ronnie megállás nélkül dolgozott tovább a tervein. A Twitch adások, amiket már egy ideje művelt akkoriban, a legfőbb kommunikációs csatornának bizonyultak számára, üléseket tartott a zenei elképzeléseiről, a terveiről, a magánéletéről vagy egyszerűen egy kis szórakozás céljából.


He had an idea of reimagining some of his old songs, actually to completely change their musical basis, the sounding, the instrumentation, the rhythm, everything except for the main tune and the lyrics. He chose "The Drug In Me Is You" first, then, sensing the huge effect it made on fans and audience in general, picked "I'm Not A Vampire" too one year later. As far as both songs had dinamic rock'n'roll vibes, the transformings were deconstructions and they took place in the direction of lyricism; eventually Ronnie wrote two piano ballads out of the two rock hits from FIR's first album, The Drug In Me Is You.

Volt egy elképzelése arról, hogy újragondolná néhány régi dalát, konkrétan megváltoztatná a zenei alapjaikat, a hangzásukat, a hangszerelésüket, a ritmust, mindent, kivéve a fő dallamot és a szöveget. Elsőnek a "The Drug In Me Is You"-t választotta, majd, megtapasztalva a hatalmas hatást, amit a rajongókra, és általában a hallgatókra tett, elővette az "I'm Not A Vampire"-t is egy évvel később. Mivel mindkét dalnak dinamikus, rock'n'roll hangulata volt, az átalaktások lebontások voltak és lírai irányba mozdultak el; tulajdonképpen Ronnie írt két zongora alapú balladát a FIR első albuma, a The Drug In Me Is You két rock slágeréből.

The song was written with the collab of pianist and composer, Sean Rooney. It's a ballad with a haunting, melancholy spin, and a overwhelming breakdown at the end of it. The video was made with Jensen Noen, showing a snowfall where Ronnie plays the drama on the piano with the orchestra behind him.
"I stripped the music back to shine a light on how raw those lyrics are"* He claimed he wasn't about to grow his fanbase, he re-wrote the song to please his fans who were backing for him from the beginning.

A dal a zongorista és zeneszerző Sean Rooney közreműködésével íródott. Egy kísértő, melankolikus sodrású ballada, a végén ellenállhatatlan robbanással. A videó Jensen Noennel készült, és egy havazást ábrázolt, amiben Ronnie drámai zongorajátékát egy szimfonikus zenekar kísérte a háttérben.
"Visszavettem a zenéből, hogy rávilágítsak, mennyire nyersek azok a szövegek."* Azt állította, nem növelni akarta a rajongótáborát, a dalt azért írta újra, hogy a kezdetektől mellette kitartó rajongóinak kedvezzen vele.

I'm Not A Vampire Revamped (Febr. 2021) Epitaph Records

"I wanted to give fans a new perspective and redefine who I am when it comes to expressing myself and being creative."*
This revamped version of the song turned to be more like an opera insert. A full orchestra, choir and piano, a full live chorus and various instruments were recorded in studio to further enhance the epic feel of the song. The new arrangement was composed by Irish composer Sean Rooney, and produced by Tyler Smyth. The video was inspired by Christopher Nolan's imagination, and starred by Saraya Bevis; she played with a wide range of emotions the tragic role of an abandoned wife of a vampire dying together with her husband in the name of boundless love.

Ez az újravampolt verziója a dalnak olyasmi lett inkább, mint egy opera betétdal. Egy teljes zenekar és zongora, egy teljes élő kórus és különféle hangszerek lettek felvéve a stúdióban, hogy tovább fokozzák a dal epikus hangulatát. Az új zenei elrendezésnek az ír zeneszerző, Sean Rooney volt a megtervezője, és Tyler Smyth a producere. A videót Christopher Nolan képzeletvilága ihlette, és a főszerepet Saraya Bevis játszotta; széles érzelmi skálán adta elő a magárahagyott feleség tragikus szerepét, aki végül együtt hal férjével a határtalan szerelem nevében.

The music video is dedicated to the loving memory of guitarist Derek Jones, who passed away in April 2021, may him rest in peace. After his wife's death because of cancer, Derek struggled with his loss and depression, and despite of the help he got from his bandmates and friends, he just couldn't recover anymore. His love for music, and also his "dry wit and easygoing demeanor"* will be missed by many.

A dalhoz készült videó a gitáros Derek Jones szerető emlékének lett ajánlva, aki 2021. áprilisában eltávozott, nyugodjon békében. Felesége rákos megbetegedése és halála után Derek a gyásszal és depresszióval küzdött, és a segítség ellenére, amit a zenekari társaitól és barátaitól kapott, többé már nem bírt felépülni. Zene iránti szeretete, valamint "éles esze és könnyed modora"* sokaknak hiányozni fog.

During the lockdown Falling In Reverse recorded a livestream concert, they named it Live From The Unknown, and broadcasted it on FIR's Merch site in two parts, each 40 minutes long. The recordings were directed by Jensen Noen, and made with the actual band members Max Georgiev, Christian Thompson, Luke Holland, (in temporary absence of Tyler Burgess) Wes Horton III and of course frontman Ronnie Radke. The effort and energy put into these shows by all collabing was immense, they seemingly did something that’s never happened before and they did it flawlessly.

“‘Live From the Unknown’ is a two-part event I have created that has never been done,”  Radke explains. “It’s two shows on separate nights with added elements that you just have to see to understand. Me trying to explain it now would ruin the live experience and also wouldn’t do it justice. Make sure you grab your tickets cause it probably will never happen like this again!”

A karantén ideje alatt a Falling In Reverse felvett egy livestream koncertet is, amit Live From The Unknown-nak neveztek el, és a FIR Merch oldalán adták le két, egyenként 40 perces részben. A felvételek Jensen Noen rendezésével készültek, és Max Georgiev, Christian Thompson, Luke Holland, (Tyler Burgess átmeneti hiányában) Wes Horton III aktuális bandatagokkal, valamint a frontember Ronnie Radke-vel. Az erőfeszítés és energia, ami ebben a műsorba bele lett téve minden közreműködő által, az óriási volt, láthatóan olyasmit csináltak, amit előtte sosem, és hibátlanul.

"A "Live From The Unknown" egy kétrészes esemény, amit alkottam, és amilyen eddig még sosem jött létre." magyarázta Radke. According to Ronnie Radke's own admission, in the recent years he has not given as many interviews as he used to. He answered rarely and only to the appropriate reporter, but these interviews all became a high-quality, informative material. AltPress reporter Ryan J. Downey, old friend of Falling In Reverse, had the privilege alone of conducting a 40-minute, detailed summary interview with Ronnie during the quarantine.
